SAN DIEGO -- Eduardo Nunez insisted Friday that he wants to remain with the Giants despite his impending free agency this winter, and the third baseman vowed to spend the rest of the season proving his devotion to the club.
Nunez returned to San Francisco's lineup for the second-half opener against the San Diego Padres after missing 18 games with a strained left hamstring.
The productivity that Nunez sustained before being injured went largely unnoticed. He reached base safely via a hit or a walk in 30 consecutive games and batted .407 (22-for-54) with runners in scoring position.
