SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Standing at his stall in the middle of the Giants’ spring training clubhouse, Gerardo Parra smiled wide while slipping into a San Francisco jersey with his No. 8 stitched across the back.
For most of his 10-season career, the outfielder has worn either Colorado Rockies purple or Arizona Diamondbacks red. But as he has competed for a roster spot this spring with the Giants, Parra’s new orange and black threads have suited him nicely.
With opening day just weeks away, he appears on track to make a team that Parra has spent so many years playing against in the National League West.
