The Washington Nationals, who fired manager Matt Williams after the season is over, have sought and received permission to interview longtime Giants manager bench coach Ron Wotus for the job, according to a major-league sources.
Wotus, 54, has spent the past 18 seasons on the Giants' major-league staff and has managed for them in the minors. He has expressed an interesting in managing a major-league team, Bruce Bochy has applauded the idea and Wotus has interviewed for jobs in recent years.
He reportedly was a semifinalist for the Pirates job during one of their searches.
