Happy Monday, San Francisco Giants fans.
It seems like the New York Mets are taking a page out of the Giants 2022-23 offseason playbook. After striking out on their premier free agency targets (which was really just “target” singular: Yoshinobu Yamamoto), the Mets have decided to pivot to Sean Manaea. On Sunday morning, Jon Heyman broke the news that the former Giant was signing with the Mets for two years and $28 million, with an opt-out after the 2024 season.
How very Giantsy.
Manaea signed a very similar contract with San Francisco last year, for two years and $25 million with an opt-out.
