The San Francisco Giants salvaged a win in an otherwise disappointing series against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, eking out a 3-2 victory and scoring a sweep. The star and story of the game was Hayden Birdsong, who had as strong of a “yeah, just try to option me back to the Minors” game as imaginable.
But the other notable star was Jorge Soler. It hasn’t been the season Soler or the Giants envisioned when they gave the All-Star slugger a three-year deal over the winter, but there have been glimpses. Sunday was a glimpse, as Soler opened the game with a truly majestic home run.
