Spring training games haven’t even started, but we already have another San Francisco Giants hat error courtesy of MLB — and this time, it’s league-wide.
On Monday, MLB unveiled special green and orange hats for all 30 teams to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, which falls in the middle of the exhibition season each spring. While the 30 hats across the league all follow the same look, UniWatch reporter Phil Hecken noticed that the pattern came with one major problem: The clovers on the hat have four leaves, not three.
While this may seem like a small error to some, it’s a faux pas in the mid-March holiday’s religious history.
