ROTATION -- LHP Madison Bumgarner, RHP Johnny Cueto, RHP Jeff Samardzija, RHP Jake Peavy, RHP Matt Cain. It says something that the Giants could sign two of the most prominent pitchers on the free-agent market, guaranteeing $220 million in sum, and Madison Bumgarner would retain his place as staff ace and opening-day starter. There's no question the Giants needed a rotation reboot. They ranked in the middle of the NL pack last season in rotation ERA (3.95) and innings per start (5.8), but those numbers didn't tell the whole story.
