Mets rookie leads late comeback to ruin Stratton’s return to Giants rotation

NEW YORK–The Mets set the table and Giants starter Chris Stratton was prepared to feast.

Then rookie second baseman Jeff McNeil ripped away the tablecloth and ruined Stratton’s night.

McNeil went 4-for-4 and led the Mets to a 6-3 win over the Giants on a night when Stratton appeared poised to turn a struggling offense into his own all-you-can-eat buffet.

Instead, McNeil sparked a two-run rally with a leadoff single in the seventh and drove in the go-ahead run with a two-out double off Tony Watson in the eighth. Two batters later, left fielder Michael Conforto drilled a three-run home run to pad the Mets advantage.
