Lights-out relief pitching and late offense, particularly with the long ball, has been the A’s winning formula for the past month.
That formula was on display at AT&T Park on Saturday night as Oakland got 52/3 innings of shutout relief from Yusmeiro Petit, Lou Trivino and Blake Treinen and a seventh-inning pinch-hit homer from Mark Canha to knock off the Giants 4-3.
That evens the series at a game apiece.
The A’s moved four games back of Seattle for the American League’s second wild-card spot. The Giants are 3½ games behind first-place Arizona in the NL West.
