SAN FRANCISCO — Madison Bumgarner pitched seven strong innings for the Giants on Saturday night, but poor support from the offense and bullpen proved costly in a 4-2 loss to the Miami Marlins before 38,663 at Oracle Park.
Bumgarner, who was making his 32nd start of the season, was seeking to win at least 10 games for the first time since the 2016. But despite shutting out the Marlins for six innings before surrendering a two-run homer to Jorge Alfaro in the seventh, the best he could do was come away with a no-decision for the 15th time.
