PHOENIX–Hunter Pence won’t make an excuse.
But he will admit his sore right thumb isn’t improving. It’s getting worse.
With Pence potentially headed for a stint on the 10-day disabled list, the Giants will have outfielder Mac Williamson with the club in Anaheim starting Friday.
Williamson will join the team’s taxi squad, which gives the Giants 24 hours to activate him to the 25-man roster or send him back to Triple-A Sacramento.
With the way the Giants’ offense has been scuffling, it’s increasingly clear Williamson will be activated.
“We’re hoping that he can be a shot in the arm for this offense and provide some production,” manager Bruce Bochy said.
