SAN FRANCISCO -- Evan Longoria's batting average, which rested at .232 after his first at-bat Friday against the Dodgers, might indicate he is struggling with his transition to the National League. But Longoria's slugging says otherwise.
The Giants third baseman led off the second inning by stroking a Hyun-Jin Ryu pitch over the center-field barrier for the game's first run. It was Longoria's fifth homer of the season, second on the team to Brandon Belt's six.
Of Longoria's 19 hits, 12 have gone for extra bases.
