The Giants are high on outfield prospect Steven Duggar.
We knew that before the team signed outfielder Austin Jackson to a two-year contract on Monday, and we are particularly aware of it after the Giants’ brass hopped on the phone to discuss their new acquisition Tuesday.
Yes, the Giants are happy to have Jackson in the fold, but grand poobah Brian Sabean and general manager Bobby Evans view him not as the team’s everyday centerfielder in 2018, but instead as more of a depth piece — a guy who can play all three outfield positions and provide some nice at-bats against lefties (a particularly useful trait in the National League West).
