Kelby Tomlinson acted it out many times in his yard in Elgin, Okla. When you’re a kid at play there are no singles. There are only home runs. Preferably grand slams. With the crowd going wild.
“It’s kind of surreal to actually do it,” Tomlinson said of his eighth-inning grand slam Thursday that turned a presumed win over the Cubs into a 9-1 rout.
In the top of the ninth, when he came out to play second, the crowd at AT&T rose to a standing ovation. The scoreboard camera focused on Tomlinson. Veteran Marlon Byrd pointed up to the board.
