MILWAUKEE -- Brandon Belt's knee is still sore, so the first baseman wasn't in the Giants' starting lineup Sunday afternoon at Milwaukee, which opened the door for Ryder Jones to get his second start of the season.
"I didn't see [Belt] playing today," manager Bruce Bochy said. "So Ryder was going to get the start."
Ryder is one of several young players the Giants have called up for the final weeks, not only to fill roster holes created by injuries, but also for the team to get a first-hand look at what each of them can offer as the Giants, out of playoff contention, shift their focus to 2019 and beyond.
