Johnny Cueto, tamer of steeds, locks, and unworthy opponents, will be the starting pitcher for National League in the 2016 All-Star Game. John Shea reported the news on Monday, and Cueto will be the first Giants pitcher to start for the NL since Matt Cain in 2012.
Cueto finished the first half with a gem of a complete game, his league-leading fourth of the season. He also leads the NL in innings pitched (131u2153) and wins (13), while allowing the fewest home runs per nine innings. His 2.47 ERA ranks third in the league, behind two pitchers who will not appear in the All-Star Game (Clayton Kershaw and Madison Bumgarner).
