Joe Panik’s success a family affair

“You couldn’t have scripted it any better when you think about these last 12, 13 months,” Paul Panik said over the phone from his New York home. “It’s been an amazing ride. He’s been blessed. The family’s been blessed.”

The family is where it all starts for Panik, whose first act after hearing from Bochy was notifying his parents, the call home coming at a more reasonable hour than the 2 a.m. call he made when he got called up to the majors.

But it was just as exhilarating — and another reason to flash back to his youth and recall the support he received from his parents and brother Paul, who’s 2 years older.
