Never one to hold his tongue, SF Giants All-Star Joc Pederson threw cold water on fans' hopes that the team could land Washington Nationals superstar Juan Soto, even in a blockbuster trade.
“I don’t think we have enough players to go after Soto,” Pederson said to the San Francisco Chronicle. “It’s going to take two farm systems to get him. Logan (Webb), Yaz (Mike Yastrzemski), LaMonte (Wade Jr.), Joey (Bart), the whole team.”
(SFGATE and the San Francisco Chronicle are both owned by Hearst but operate independently of one another.)
Pederson’s comments are fairly surprising given that players rarely speak candidly about trade rumors, much less list current teammates who would likely be involved in the deal.
