For pitcher Jake Peavy, getting traded by Boston to the Giants in 2014 not only changed his life on the field, it changed his lifestyle off of it in ways he never could have imagined as a baseball-mad kid growing up in Mobile, Alabama.
As a ball player, it led to him winning his second consecutive World Series title. As a fledgling musician, it reunited him with Tim Flannery, the former Giants third base coach cum singer-songwriter who gave him his first guitar. And it turned him into the self-proclaimed "biggest Deadhead in San Francisco." Whether he's the biggest Deadhead is arguable.
