DENVER — As midnight approached at chilly Coors Field on Saturday night, the Giants finally lost.
The red-hot lineup, down several regulars, couldn’t keep up in the second game of a doubleheader as the Giants fell 5-3 to the Rockies, snapping an eight-game winning streak. They split a doubleheader that included two rain delays and ended about 10 hours after it was supposed to initially start.
A heads-up play by Brandon Crawford gave the Giants an early lead. Crawford doubled in the second and reached third on a grounder. When a pitch to Justin Maxwell bounced back just a few feet in front of the plate, Crawford made a perfect read and raced home safely.
