Improving Peavy leads streaking Giants

Entering today’s game against the Colorado Rockies (4 p.m. ET on ESPN), the San Francisco Giants have won 16 of their past 22 games for the best record in the National League since June 11.

San Francisco is suddenly a half-game behind the Chicago Cubs for the best record in the NL after picking up five-and-a-half games on Chicago in less than four weeks.

The Giants have done it with offense, leading the NL with a .300 batting average, a .369 on-base percentage and 6.0 runs per game during that time.
