Hunter Pence hurts leg, leaves game in Sacramento

SAN DIEGO — Giants right fielder Hunter Pence made an early exit from his first rehab game with Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday after apparently aggravating his injured right hamstring.

Video taken by a spectator at Round Rock, Texas, appeared to show Pence reaching toward the back of his right leg after hitting a single in the third inning. He was escorted off the field with a trainer and lifted for a pinch runner. Pence was hit in the leg by a pitch in the first inning as well. The Giants had scheduled five innings for Pence on Saturday and five more on Sunday, with the plan for him to get roughly 30 at-bats with the River Cats over a weeklong stint as he works to regain his timing and conditioning following June 9 surgery to remove a torn right hamstring tendon.
