Hunter Pence home run leads Giants past Braves

ATLANTA - Hunter Pence doesn’t get mad. He doesn’t get even. He just gets it.

The Giants’ No. 5 hitter and inspirational leader never calls out or shows up an opponent. It’s always about respecting the game and the opposing pitcher.

Even if the pitcher intentionally walks Buster Posey with Pence on deck, which happened in the eighth inning Tuesday night.

Pence made Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez’s decision backfire with a three-run homer that broke a 3-3 tie and gave the Giants an 8-3 victory at Turner Field.

Pence hit a screaming line drive, sprinted out of the box and didn’t celebrate until he got near the Giants’ bench, never gloating or directing his attention toward pitcher David Aardsma, an ex-Giant.
