SAN FRANCISCO — The Giants’ move to acquire utility man Daniel Robertson from the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday stayed under the radar because of the way Robertson’s addition forced the organization to shuffle its roster.
To clear a space for the 26-year-old Robertson on the team’s 40-man roster, the Giants designated veteran outfielder Hunter Pence for assignment.
The reunion with Pence didn’t go as planned as he went 5-for-52 to open the season before being cut, but manager Gabe Kapler could soon use. . .
