How Bruce Bochy plans to use free agent signee Tony Watson

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.–Last fall, Tony Watson was chasing rings with Cody Bellinger and Corey Seager.

After the Dodgers narrowly missed out on adding jewelry to their fingers in the World Series, Watson will attempt to provide his old teammates with a different type of accessory: Handcuffs.

On Monday, the Giants announced they agreed to terms with Watson on a two-year contract with a player option for 2020. The seven-year veteran adds a much needed left-handed presence to the Giants’ bullpen, which contends with several talented left-handed hitters on a regular basis in the National League West.

“I got a taste of it last year at the end of the year with certain lefties that are in these lineups that are damage guys that are premier hitters in the game and they just happen to be in our division,” Watson said.
