Chris Heston returned to his roots, the minor leagues, for a refresher course and seems re-energized for his start Sunday.
The 27-year-old rookie didn’t pitch for Triple-A Sacramento but joined the team during its stay in Omaha and Des Moines and spoke with several folks familiar with his pitching, including coaches, former teammates (Jake Dunning and Brett Bochy among them) and player personnel chief Dick Tidrow.
Heston threw two bullpen sessions, one shortly after his Aug. 17 start in St. Louis and the other Wednesday, and watched a lot of video.
