SAN FRANCISCO–If you listen to the Giants’ top decision-makers talk without any context, you would think they’re running a yoga studio instead of a baseball team.
Vice president of baseball operations Brian Sabean and general manager Bobby Evans are preaching the value of flexibility for this year’s roster as the club prepares to rebound from a 64-98 season. Sure, a few of the team’s 30-something-year-old regulars will need to stretch more than they used to, but that’s not the only reason flexibility was the buzzword of choice at the Giants’ FanFest media day.
With a slew of young players who still have Minor League options available and a Triple-A squad that hosts home games fewer than 100 miles from AT&T Park, the Giants are preparing for a revolving door at the back end of their roster that could reinvigorate local shuttle businesses.
