Hall of Fame: Barry Bonds comes up short, Rivera sets record

While Barry Bonds inched closer to Cooperstown, former Stanford star Mike Mussina, Mariano Rivera, Roy Halladay and Edgar Martinez all made it to Baseball’s Hall of Fame on Tuesday.

Rivera, Mussina, Halladay and Martinez earned a date with baseball immortality and will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on July 21 after each earned at least 75 percent of the votes necessary. Rivera, in fact, became the first player in history to earn 100 percent of the vote.

Despite being unquestionably one of baseball’s all-time greats, Bonds’ path to Cooperstown was blocked by PED accusations for the seventh time.
