GM, Bochy address Panik’s absence from Triple-A game, plus Friday’s Giants lineup

NEW YORK - Hello from Yankee Stadium, where Joe Panik will not be cheered by his hometown fans this weekend. He and Hunter Pence flew with Triple-A Sacramento from New Orleans for a home series against El Paso (Padres) this weekend.

Panik was supposed to play nine innings at New Orleans on Thursday night. He was not in the lineup,, raising immediate speculation that he either had a concussion setback or was traded. You can't dodge the latter this time of year.

Our John Shea spoke with Bobby Evans this morning and got the word:

Panik has not had a concussion setback.
