MIAMI — The Giants won one for their skipper on a historic night for his shortstop.
With Bruce Bochy in a Miami hospital for overnight observation after taking ill Monday morning, the Giants played one of their most inspired and craziest games of the year, overcoming two late deficits to beat the Marlins 8-7 in 14 innings.
Brandon Crawford drove in the go-ahead run with his seventh hit, a single off Andrew Cashner that scored Brandon Belt.
Crawford had five singles, a double and a triple in becoming the fifth player since 1913 to achieve seven hits and the first since Rennie Stennett did it for the Pirates in 1975.
