MILWAUKEE - A few hours before rookie Ty Blach's ninth start Wednesday night. Madison Bumgarner said he took some comfort in the exceptional job the rookie left-hander has done since Bumgarner spilled his dirt-bike and created the opening in the rotation.
"It doesn't hurt to get somebody to step up and pitch the way he has," Bumgarner said. "He's done really well. It's been fun to watch him go out there and get a chance to have a role and pitch every fifth day. He took it and ran with it."
Blach finally ran into a team stopped him cold, the Brewers, who ended Blach's four-game winning streak with a 6-3 comeback victory at Miller Park.
