Giants use big sixth inning to take series from Marlins

SAN FRANCISCO — Kept under control through the first five innings, the Giants scored five times in the sixth Wednesday to beat the Miami Marlins 6-5 to win the opening series of a 10-game homestand at AT&T Park.

Derek Holland (5-7) was the winning pitcher, keeping the Marlins under control through the the first six innings before being lifted two outs into the seventh. Tony Watson, Ty Blach, Sam Dyson and Reyes Moronta finished up before a crowd of 35,903 as the Giants improved to 37-38.
