Tonight's 6-2 victory featured strong pitching, strong offense, and strong defense. Jeff Samardzija pitched into the 7th inning after a near-disastrous 1st inning and Gregor Blanco homered, which nearly caused the headline of this article to be, "Two-Headed Shark Attack".
Because this went up so late, none of you will read this, but that was nearly the platonic ideal of a Giants game. Effectively wild Jeff Samardzija managed to settle down long enough for the skilled offense to get a lead and then turned it over to a bullpen and late-inning defense to hold onto it. There were certainly peaks and valleys in win #55 of 2016, but nothing so anxiety-inducing and heart-stopping that you reconsidered rooting for the team, as has been the case from time to time over the past few months.
