But business is business, and Duffy has moved on.
The first-place Giants added left-handed pitchers Matt Moore and Will Smith before Monday’s trade deadline to improve their chances of keeping their distance from the Dodgers and winning the National League West.
In the process, they lost Duffy, their popular third baseman, along with some heralded prospects, significantly weakening their farm system.
