Giants top prospect wins Double-A Eastern League ERA title

A year after posting a 5.23 ERA in 13 starts for Double-A Richmond, Giants top pitching prospect Tyler Beede bounced back in a big way this season.

The former first round pick gave up one earned run in six innings in his final regular-season start Sunday and finished the season with an Eastern League-best 2.81 ERA.

Beede entered the day trailing Rockies prospect German Marquez 2.87 to 2.85, but Marquez was promoted to Triple-A after his start on August 4.

In 147.1 innings over 24 starts this season - all with Double-A Richmond - Beede struck out 135 batters and posted a 1.
