SAN FRANCISCO — The Giants player who changed the offense and ignited the team’s July hot streak is due to return in the near future.
Outfielder Alex Dickerson could be active in San Francisco as soon as Wednesday after beginning a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday. Dickerson, who hit .346 in 107 at-bats before landing on the injured list, is expected to be evaluated by the Giants training staff prior after receiving “three or four” at-bats as a designated hitter for the Sacramento River Cats.
Dickerson has been sidelined since July 30 with a right oblique strain that’s unrelated to a back spasm he dealt with in the middle of July.
