BOSTON -- The Giants remained ultra-careful Wednesday in prescribing Hunter Pence's activity during his injury rehabilitation stint, ordering the right fielder to limit his workload to pregame drills.
Pence, who's striving to overcome a right hamstring injury, has appeared in one of a possible four games with Triple-A Sacramento. Giants manager Bruce Bochy said that Pence still felt sore from being hit by a pitch in his initial game last Saturday.
Meanwhile, Bochy issued more encouraging news about third baseman Matt Duffy (left Achilles), who reported to the club's Spring Training complex in Arizona with right-hander Cory Gearrin (shoulder) to undergo sustained rehab while off-days Monday and Thursday interrupted the Giants' schedule this week.
