Giants sign Willy Adames to 7-year deal

The San Francisco Giants will not, apparently, sit by quietly this offseason. The first Major League signing is in the books for Buster Posey, and it’s also the largest signing in franchise history, as the Giants inked shortstop Willy Adames to a seven-year, $182 million contract. The news was first reported by ESPN’s Jeff Passan, who also reported that $22 million of Adames’ contract will be in the form of a signing bonus.

Adames, who just turned 29 years old, is one of the top shortstops in baseball. Last year he posted a career-high 4.
