According to Jon Heyman and some dude in my Twitter feed who tipped Heyman off, the Giants signed outfielder Slade Heathcott to a minor-league deal with an invitation to spring training. Heathcott is an athletic 26-year-old left-hander who has the ability to play second and third base center field.

Heathcott is a former first-round pick of the Yankees, and he ranked as high as the #63 prospect in baseball as of 2013. Injuries and underwhelming offensive performances have kept him in the minors, mostly, where he’s a career .
