Giants select 1B Chris Shaw with 31st pick in MLB Draft

With the 31st overall pick of the 2015 MLB Draft, the Giants selected Boston College first baseman Chris Shaw.

The Giants received the compensation pick when Pablo Sandoval signed with the Red Sox in the offseason. The Giants extended a qualifying offer to Sandoval, but he rejected it and inked a five-year, $95 million deal with Boston.

In 40 games for Boston College this season, Shaw led the team with a .319 batting average, 11 home runs and 43 RBI. He posted a .411 on-base percentage and a .611 slugging percentage.

The junior was named All-ACC Second Team for the 2015 season.
