After receiving a second opinion on his ailing hip, Buster Posey’s season-ending surgery “is imminent,” Giants vice president of operations Brian Sabean said Thursday night.
“We’re trying to schedule (surgery) as we speak,” Sabean told KNBR-680. “With the type of surgery he’s gonna have, which is a complete clean out of that hip, he needs as much recovery time as possible.”
Giants manager Bruce Bochy said before Thursday’s game that he would have Posey back in the lineup for Friday’s game at home against the Rangers. However, it’s likely the results of Posey’s doctor’s visit in New York weren’t yet known.
