Will Kevin Pillar be patrolling center field for the San Francisco Giants again in 2020?
That’s the question facing the front office as the offseason begins, and it’s not the no-brainer it might seem to be on the surface.
Acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays last April, Pillar went on to lead the team in hits (157), doubles (37), home runs (21), RBI (87), runs scored (82) and steals (14).
However, those numbers came with a dismal .293 on-base percentage thanks to a 2.9 percent walk rate, and while he was still capable of the highlight-reel play, he was not the same dynamic defensive player from a metrics standpoint as in years past.
