Giants right-hander Sergio Romo to undergo tests on ailing elbow

DENVER – Sergio Romo, a core member of three World Series champion bullpens and a significant late-inning presence, is going back to San Francisco for tests on an aching right elbow.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said that Romo wasn’t available to pitch in the club’s 10-6 loss to the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field Wednesday night. Romo told trainers that he woke up Wednesday with elbow discomfort, one day after he warmed up in the bullpen but did not appear in a game.

“For his presence and peace of mind, he has to get it looked at,” Bochy said.
