With spring training four weeks away, the Giants on Monday made their first significant player acquisition under their new leadership, re-signing left-handed starter Derek Holland to a one-year, $7 million free-agent contract that could be worth up to $15 million under a second-year option.

The Giants’ 2018 innings leader, who re-established his durability in a comeback season from multiple injuries, was 7-9 with a 3.57 ERA.
