Giants punch Wild Card Game ticket with sweep

SAN FRANCISCO -- The San Francisco Giants cruised into Wednesday's Wild Card Game against the New York Mets, qualifying for the postseason with a 7-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday that completed a three-game sweep. Since the Giants led the Cardinals by one game entering Sunday in the battle for the second Wild Card, San Francisco's triumph left the St. Louis-Pittsburgh result moot.

San Francisco's win was highlighted by Buster Posey's three RBIs in the first two innings and Denard Span's two-run triple in the second inning. They helped support Matt Moore's three-hit pitching over eight innings.
