Giants prospect Hunter Bishop tests positive for the coronavirus

The San Francisco Giants have what appears to be their first known case of the coronavirus. Outfield prospect Hunter Bishop has tested positive for the virus, the team revealed on Monday. His symptoms are mild, and he’s showing improvement.

Bishop was the team’s first-round pick in the 2019 MLB Draft, and is considered by most publications to be their fourth-best prospect. He was expected to be part of the team’s 60-player pool, along with other top prospects Joey Bart, Marco Luciano, and Heliot Ramos.

But the coronavirus is keeping him off the initial list of 51 players that the Giants submitted for the July 1 report date.
