SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - When a player who batted more than 3,800 times in 12 big-league seasons is remembered for two swings, chances are they were remarkable.
Cody Ross emerged from relative obscurity and hit two home runs against Roy Halladay in Game 1 of the 2010 National League Championship Series in Philadelphia, a 4-3 Giants victory. The Giants won the series and the pennant. Ross was voted MVP.
"A lot of my old teammates and buddies have always said, 'You had two good weeks in your career,' and I think it's pretty funny," Ross said Wednesday morning as a chill wind buffeted Scottsdale Stadium.
