The 2017 Giants had just one player who was consistent at the plate, catcher Buster Posey, who was rewarded Thursday when he won his fourth National League Silver Slugger as the best hitter at his position.
No other Giant besides Barry Bonds has won as many Silver Sluggers. Bonds received 12 in his career, nine with San Francisco.
Although his power numbers were down in 2017, Posey had his best offensive year since 2012, when he won the National League batting title and Most Valuable Player award.
In 2017, he hit .320 with a .400 on-base percentage and .
