NEW YORK — The Giants, already banged up to the core, lost Buster Posey in Friday night’s game at Yankee Stadium.
The club has not announced why, but Posey banged a foul ball off his back foot in his first at-bat, in the second inning. He took a lot of time walking it off before he continued the plate appearance, which ended in a walk.
He continued playing, singling to start the fourth inning, but was replaced by Trevor Brown for the bottom of the fourth after a lengthy spell running the bases.
The Giants and Madison Bumgarner trail after four innings.
