SAN FRANCISCO — Shortstop Brandon Crawford will be out temporarily after being placed on paternity leave Monday, with the Giants recalling infielder Kelby Tomlinson from Triple-A Sacramento.
Crawford, the National League top vote-getter at shortstop for the All-Star game, is expected back Thursday. He is the Giants leading hitter with a .315 batting average to go along with eight home runs and 32 RBIs. Crawford and his wife Jalynne are expecting their fourth child.
The Giants begin a three-game series Monday night against the Miami Marlins. the start of a 10-game homestand that also includes San Diego and Colorado.
